2014 has been quite a year for Ember Strategies, and I thank you all for it. I’ve learned so much…like the differences between LLCs and S Corps. That beer warming isn’t just something that happens when you drink too slowly. That every city government really is a unique and precious snowflake. That tax policies you worked on creating years ago can suddenly return from the dead (ahem, Section 179d, ahem). And of course, that I am blessed to work with some of the smartest and most passionate people in the world.
I hope that 2015 brings you continued success and prosperity.
There has not been much activity on the blog these past few months, as you may have noticed. Turns out finishing up projects and getting ready to move to the other side of the world is time consuming! One project, the Sierra Nevada brewery in Mills River, North Carolina is nearing completion. If you happen to be in the area you can now take a tour of the mostly finished brewing facility, and see the not finished brewpub.
I leave for Australia Feb 1st and I return June 1st. My hosts are the brilliant folks at ClimateWorks Australia in their downtown Melbourne office. My research plan has shifted a bit thanks to the dynamic policy situation. You may have heard that Australia’s Prime Minister Tony Abbot repealed the country’s carbon tax in an effort to liberate as much CO2 as possible, but did you also know that the crusade may extend all the way to the 15+ year old appliance standards program and the incredibly successful building transparency rules? He really likes energy from burning things, I guess. Check the blog for updates while I am in Oz.
